Areas of Special Training
Mercury Toxicity
Most dentists have only been trained to traumatically remove old mercury amalgam fillings without any awareness of the danger they are placing themselves and their patients in.
Through my training I have been introduced to a number of protocols to properly remove mercury fillings. The protocol I have developed includes protection for the patient prior to, during and after the removal. I feel it is particularly important to adhere to this protocol during amalgam removal, using the proper equipment to protect the patient, the staff and the dentist. I believe that the lack of an effective protocol during this critical process, is the cause of ill feeling some patients report after their fillings are removed.
Non-Surgical Periodontal Therapy
My training has provided the ability to evaluate a patients blood chemistry and nutritional imbalances that lead to gum disease. Through the use of a special microscope, I can determine the presence of certain harmful bacteria. Therapy can then be directed to change these pathological bacteria to non-pathogenic bacteria.
By understanding that gum disease is a breakdown of connective tissue, we know that treatment to build up the biological terrain will initiate the body's own healing processes.
Dental Somatic Integration
Treating dysfunction and pain in the
neck, head, jaw and face.
I have received extensive training in orthodontics, cranial-mandibular orthopedics and treatments for TMJ facial pain.
Today, I and other biological dentists with similar training are working to use advances in all these areas to develop an exciting new field of practice called dental somatic integration which recognizes the relationship between the teeth, jaws and the Cranio-sacral system.
To promote a healthier relationship between these systems, 3rd generation of orthodontic appliances have been developed to apply continuous, gentle force (5 grams, or the weight of a nickel) to the teeth and bones of the face and skull.
You see, malocclusions (crooked teeth) are the result of a pattern created by cranial-sacral lesions. ( caused by birth, trauma, etc.) The new 3rd generation A.L.F. appliances (Alternative Lightwire Functionals) attach to the teeth like handles to correct distortions of the skull, the upper jaw and to correct misalignments of the upper and lower teeth.
